Communal is a beauty and skincare brand built around the idea of shared care, inclusivity, and collective experience. The project involved end-to-end brand creation, including naming, brand identity, and packaging design across multiple products.

Deliverables: Logo, visual system, typography, colour palette, packaging for 7–8 products

The Brief

" Designing a brand rooted in togetherness "

The challenge was to create a skincare brand that felt modern, minimal, and warm, while moving away from individualistic beauty narratives. The identity needed to reflect care, collaboration, and community, without losing a sense of premium simplicity required in the beauty space.

Why Communal?

The name Communal is derived from the idea of something shared by a group. Emphasizing collaboration, connection, and belonging. It sets the foundation for a brand where beauty is not individual, but collective, inclusive, and experienced together.

This philosophy became the anchor for all visual and verbal decisions moving forward.

Visual Direction

Minimal · Natural · Rejuvenating

The visual language balances softness with structure, combining clean layouts, warm tones, and organic symbolism. The aim was to create an identity that feels calm, inclusive, and quietly confident, aligning with modern skincare sensibilities.

Logo Design

Symbolism through simplicity

The logo is built as a wordmark with a custom symbol derived from the letter “C”, forming a subtle floral shape. This symbol represents skincare, growth, and care, maintaining a balance between boldness and beauty.

Mesh Gradient

A warm, optimistic palette featuring Soft Coral, Golden Yellow, and White forms the base of the brand. A mesh gradient system adds depth and flexibility, bringing a sense of glow and rejuvenation across applications.

The palette was designed to feel welcoming and emotionally uplifting.

Typography

Balancing personality and clarity

The packaging system was developed to accommodate 7–8 different products while maintaining a cohesive brand identity. Clear hierarchy, consistent layouts, and adaptable components ensure recognizability across the range.

My Role & Responsibilities

  • Led the end-to-end brand creation for Communal, from naming to final execution

  • Designed the brand identity system including logo, colour palette, and typography

  • Developed packaging designs across multiple skincare products

  • Worked closely with the client to align creative direction and feedback

  • Created and managed photoshoot moodboards to guide visual storytelling

  • Led and coordinated a cross-functional team of 3 across design and other departments

  • Ensured consistency, scalability, and production readiness across all brand assets
